The VHS operates a plant stall at its monthly meetings staffed by knowledgeable members with good information about the plants for sale. Besides benefiting members, the Plant Stall is an important source of income for the VHS.
Plant sources?
- Members (See below for further details.)
What kind of plants?
- Predominantly outdoor plants
- indoor plants also, and particularly during the fall months
When and Where?
- 6:30 p.m on the sale tables at the rear of the Garth Homer meeting hall until
commencement of the meeting at 7:30p.m.
- A second sales period occurs during the refreshment break
How much?
- Very reasonable prices
Three ways that members can provide plants to the Plant Stall:
1. Straight Donation
- A member simply brings plants to be donated to the Plant Stall and one of the
Plant Stall volunteers will price them and put them out for sale.
- Plant Stall volunteers will adjust prices downward throughout the evening, so
typically all such donations are sold by the conclusion of the evening.
- If any donated plants remain unsold, Plant Stall volunteers look after them.
2. 85/15% Revenue Sharing
- The VHS has developed an arrangement with a small number of members
who are plant propagators.
- The propagators retain 85% of the proceeds and the VHS receives 15% of
the plant sale proceeds in return for providing the propagators an excellent
sales venue and a large number of potential buyers.
- Any member interested in pursuing this option is requested to first speak to
Diane Pierce, Plant Stall Coordinator (592-5808), before bringing any
plants in for sale, as there are space and other matters that need to be
discussed.
3. Donation in Return for An Income Tax Receipt
